Canadian sprinter Andre De Grasse secured his fifth spot in the upcoming Diamond League Final with a solid performance at the Weltklasse Zürich meet. Despite finishing behind Kenny Bednarek and Sinesipho Dambile, De Grasse ran the 200 meters in 20.03 seconds. This race marked his return to the event since his victory in Zagreb with a time of 19.95. De Grasse, who holds the Canadian record of 19.62, will aim to clinch the Diamond League championship once again.

At the meet, De Grasse’s fellow Canadian Lucia Stafford finished fourth in the women’s 1,500 meters. Her time of 4:04.12 fell short of her season best. In another highlight, Alison dos Santos set a new world record in the men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 45.80 seconds, while Masai Russell broke the world record in the women’s 100m hurdles, clocking 12.09 seconds.

The pole vault event saw a thrilling battle between Mondo Duplantis and Emmanouil Karalis. Karalis challenged Duplantis by setting a personal best and attempting the world record height. The competition between the two athletes promises excitement in the upcoming Diamond League final and the World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest.
