The council passed a bylaw initiating a six-month moratorium on development permit applications for such data centers. Coun. Jennifer Houghtaling emphasized the need for an informed decision and expressed that the moratorium should remain until thorough considerations are made. The issue arose following community apprehension over a land purchase in Malagash, which led to the initiation of the moratorium.
