“Christian Horner a Top Candidate for Aston Martin Team Principal Role”

Published:

Christian Horner is said to be a candidate for the position of Aston Martin team principal, potentially replacing Andy Cowell, who is facing potential dismissal following the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Horner, a former Red Bull leader, has been looking to return to Formula 1 since leaving his previous role in July.

After a challenging Las Vegas GP, RacingNews365 reported that Cowell’s position at Aston Martin was at risk due to the team’s current struggles in the Constructors’ Championship, where they are in seventh place, just eight points ahead of Sauber in ninth. The report suggested that Andreas Seidl, a former McLaren and Sauber figure, could be the top choice for the role.

BBC Sport also mentioned Horner as a contender to take over from Cowell. Horner, who left the Red Bull team earlier this year, has been linked with various teams, including Ferrari, Haas, and Alpine, but the potential move to Aston Martin could be his most significant opportunity yet.

Speculations about Horner joining Aston Martin emerged before the Singapore Grand Prix, but Cowell dismissed them, stating that there were no plans involving Horner in any operational or investment capacity in the future.

If Horner were to join Aston Martin, it would lead to a reunion with Zak Brown, a rival who criticized Horner before the Las Vegas triple-header.

On a brighter note, Red Bull had success in Las Vegas, with Max Verstappen winning the race and keeping his championship hopes alive. However, both McLaren cars were later disqualified after failing inspections, allowing Verstappen to close the gap to Norris at the top of the standings as they head to Qatar.
