“Canada Dominates Philippines in FIBA Pre-Qualifying Tournament”

The Canadian senior women’s basketball team dominated the Philippines with a commanding 85-38 victory on Wednesday at the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament held in Guadalajara, Mexico. Yvonne Ejim led the scoring for Canada with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 15 points to the win.

Canada took an early lead, establishing a 23-4 advantage at Arena Astros and maintaining a strong 46-11 lead by halftime. The tournament, featuring eight teams, will run until Sunday.

Previously, Canada secured a 72-57 win against Senegal in the tournament opener on Monday. Up next, the Canadian team is set to face host Mexico on Thursday in another competitive match.

The ultimate victor of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments scheduled for February 2028.
