A young boy from Calgary who was rescued following a near-drowning incident in a British Columbia river is currently in the hospital recovering, with his family expressing concern over his damaged lungs. Nine-year-old Paul-Angelo Warren was swimming and diving in the Shuswap River near Enderby on August 3 when he failed to resurface after diving underwater. Maria Warren, his mother, recounted how bystanders at the beach quickly responded, pulling him out of the water a few minutes after he went missing. According to an RCMP statement, the boy was trapped against fallen deadwood by the river’s strong current before being rescued and administered CPR on the shore. Authorities suspect that he may have been submerged for up to 10 minutes.
The child is currently receiving care at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, with his family remaining by his side throughout his recovery. Maria Warren emphasized the importance of her constant presence, stating, “I always, always stay with him because I want to make sure that when he opens his eyes, he will see me right away and hear my voice.”
