Published:

High street jewelry retailer Beaverbrooks has decided to close all of its 83 stores on Boxing Day, providing its employees with an additional week of pay. This annual gesture allows staff to appreciate some well-deserved time off on December 26, showing gratitude for their hard work throughout the year. The company, founded in 1919 by the Adlestone brothers Isaac, Harry, and Maurice, originated in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Managing Director Anna Blackburn emphasized the importance of family values within Beaverbrooks, highlighting the decision to prioritize employee well-being by granting them the opportunity to unwind and reconnect with loved ones after a busy holiday season. The company’s commitment to placing employees first aims to cultivate a more engaged workforce, enhancing the level of customer service provided.

In a move that sets an example for other businesses, Beaverbrooks has also onboarded 50 seasonal hires to support its teams during the festive period, ensuring exceptional service delivery during the busiest time of the year. Following suit, Home Bargains has announced its closure on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day to give staff a break, maintaining its tradition of providing employees with these holidays off. Additionally, M&S and Aldi have confirmed similar closures on Boxing Day as part of their appreciation for their hardworking staff.
