“Anthony Joshua’s Boxing Comeback Decision to Stay Secret Until Last Minute”

Published:

Anthony Joshua is set to keep fans in suspense regarding his comeback to the boxing ring until just 48 hours before the fight begins. Following his knockout defeat by Daniel Dubois at Wembley last September, Joshua is eyeing a warm-up bout before aiming for a high-profile showdown against Tyson Fury next year. There is a possibility that the two-time heavyweight champion could be added to an undercard event just before Christmas at short notice.

Eddie Hearn, the promoter, mentioned, “We will finalize the decision this week on his upcoming fight. If a fight materializes this year, it will be kept under wraps until fight week. We already have potential opponents lined up for a tune-up match, with the intention of making it a low-key event where Joshua can simply show up, weigh in on Thursday, and step into the ring.”

Regarding the potential match against YouTuber Jake Paul, Hearn stated that while discussions have taken place, no official offers have been made. However, he ruled out Joshua as one of the replacement opponents for Paul’s upcoming fight. Hearn expressed interest in a potential clash between Joshua and Paul for a run-out fight but doubted if Paul would be willing to take on such a challenge.

In other boxing news, the highly anticipated Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn rematch is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 15, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Fans can catch the action by ordering the fight on DAZN PPV for £24.99 or watching it for free with a DAZN Ultimate subscription.

Meanwhile, Joshua is on the lookout for a new coaching team after parting ways with trainer Ben Davison. Recently, the Olympic champion visited Oleksandr Usyk’s training camp in Spain as he gears up for the next phase of his career. Joshua has previously worked with esteemed trainers like Tony Sims, Rob McCracken, Robert Garcia, and Derrick James before transitioning to Fury’s former stable.
