Published:

Alexandra Palace has secured a new five-year deal to host the PDC World Darts Championship until 2031, putting an end to speculations about a potential relocation from London or England. As part of the agreement, the tournament will move to the Great Hall starting from the 2026/27 season, increasing the venue’s capacity to accommodate over 5,000 supporters per session.

Since 2007, Alexandra Palace has been the home of the World Darts Championship, with PDC chief executive Matt Porter expressing excitement about extending the partnership until 2031. The iconic venue, known for its festive atmosphere, will now allow more fans to enjoy the event with the move to the Great Hall.

Emma Dagnes OBE, the chief executive of Alexandra Palace, emphasized the positive impact of events like the World Darts Championship, highlighting the revenue generated to support cultural and learning programs. The venue’s Creative Learning Programme will continue receiving support from the Matchroom Charitable Foundation, with a commitment of £300,000 over three years.

Current capacity for the festive-season event stands at 3,300 supporters, with defending champion Luke Littler set to kick off this year’s championship against Darius Labanauskas. The upcoming World Series in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for January 19 to 20, will feature top players like Luke Humphries.

The PDC World Darts Championship will commence on December 11, offering fans the opportunity to watch every match live exclusively with Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle.
