Terrifying video footage captures a Manhattan building consumed by flames, with thick smoke emerging from the structure.

The New York City Fire Department promptly responded to the blaze at 201 West 107th Street in Manhattan, initially categorized as a 3-alarm fire at 8:49 am. Shortly after, it was upgraded to a four-alarm fire.

An update from the fire department indicated that the fire was successfully brought under control by 10:30 am, with FDNY fire marshals currently investigating the cause.

According to Paul Miano, acting chief EMS, all three reported injuries were minor. When questioned about the fire’s origin, FDNY chief of operations, Kevin Woods, stated that no cause had been determined yet.

Miano praised the quick response of the fire department and EMS personnel, highlighting their dedication to the city’s safety.

Chief Woods detailed the swift emergency response, mentioning that firefighters rescued occupants from the building, with one firefighter sustaining a minor burn injury.

During a press conference, a fire official described the building as a six-story non-fireproof structure with significant damage to multiple units due to the intense fire.

Council member Shaun Abreu, representing several Manhattan neighborhoods, confirmed his presence at the scene and offered assistance to affected individuals.

Residents were advised to steer clear of the area, as per an alert from NYC Notify, warning of smoke and potential traffic disruptions in the vicinity.
