“Beauty Queen Sentenced to Life for Toddler’s Murder”

Published:

A former beauty pageant queen has been handed a life sentence for the death of her boyfriend’s 18-month-old son. Trinity Poague, aged 19, was convicted of two counts of felony murder in Georgia after causing fatal injuries to the child in 2024. Poague, who previously held the title of Miss Donalsonville, lost her crown following the incident.

The toddler, who was brought to Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus, Georgia, after the assault, tragically passed away despite efforts to save him. Authorities disclosed that Poague inflicted severe injuries to the child before his death, including blunt-force trauma to his head and body.

Witnesses reported hearing the child crying for an extended period before the cries ceased abruptly. Lilly Waterman, a college student residing in the dorm where the incident occurred, mentioned that everyone noticed the sudden silence without knowing the cause.

Prior to the crime, Poague expressed her discontent with the child in a text to her roommate, indicating a strained relationship. Following deliberation, the jury found Poague guilty of felony murder and aggravated battery, along with cruelty to a child in the first degree. Judge W. James Sizemore Jr delivered a life sentence to Poague, emphasizing the severity of her actions.

Poague displayed a composed demeanor during sentencing but broke down in tears upon hearing the jury’s verdict. She was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of JD Willams, also known as Romeo Angles, and received an additional 20-year term, both to be served concurrently.
