“iPhone Users Urged to Update for Wireless Charging Fix”

Published:

Users of the latest iPhone models are advised to promptly adjust their device settings. Apple has rolled out a crucial update to address an irritating issue that is currently impacting certain users. This bug is hindering wireless charging on some devices, forcing affected users to rely solely on MagSafe wireless charging for battery top-ups.

While Apple reports that only a small percentage of users are experiencing this issue, it is still recommended for all users to ensure their devices are updated.

Which devices might be encountering charging difficulties?

It has been confirmed that the iPhone 17 series, including the Pro and Pro Max variants, as well as the iPhone Air, require the installation of this update.

Apple clarified, “This update resolves an issue for a small group of users that could prevent wired charging on iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models when the battery is nearly depleted.”

If you own one of these devices, updating is a straightforward process. Navigate to Settings, select General, and then tap on Software Update.

You will see iOS 26.5.1 available for download. Choose to Update Now for an immediate installation or schedule the update for nighttime when the device is not in use.

Ensure that you are connected to Wi-Fi or have access to unlimited mobile data, as the update file size is substantial at 13.6GB.

Apple is gearing up for a significant week of updates ahead. The annual WWDC Developers Conference is commencing on Monday, June 8, where the company is anticipated to unveil the new iOS 27 upgrade.

This update will introduce a host of new features to iPhones, potentially enhancing device intelligence by bolstering AI capabilities.

Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, expressed, “WWDC is a thrilling event for us at Apple as it brings together our remarkable global developer community for an inspiring week centered on technology, innovation, and collaboration. We are excited to engage with many of you online and in person for what promises to be an outstanding WWDC event.”
