“Three Major Banks Close 71 Branches in Response to Online Banking Trend”

Published:

Three major high street banks, namely Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, all part of Lloyds Banking Group, have announced the closure of 71 branches next year due to the increasing popularity of online banking. The list includes 40 Lloyds branches, 14 Halifax locations, and 17 Bank of Scotland sites. Customers affected by these closures have options available to them.

For everyday banking needs, customers of Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland can utilize branches across any of these three banks. Additionally, individuals can explore the possibility of using a “banking hub,” where a bank operates in a shared public space on the high street.

A spokesperson from Lloyds Banking Group highlighted the shift in banking preferences, with over 21 million customers opting for apps to manage their finances. The group is focusing on providing a variety of banking options, combining digital convenience with personalized service. Customers can access services not only through the app but also at any Lloyds, Halifax, or Bank of Scotland branch, as well as at the Post Office or various banking hubs. Cash deposits can also be made at over 30,000 PayPoint locations.
