“Ukraine’s Elite ‘Ghost’ Unit Strikes Key Russian Targets”

Published:

In eastern Donbas, Ukraine’s elite “ghost” unit has successfully taken down two significant Russian radar stations and a launch pad for Moscow’s anti-aircraft missile system. This covert drone team, known as the ‘ghosts’ for their stealth, infiltrated enemy lines to target the Podlet low-altitude radars and a 9A82 missile launcher. The objective was to hinder Russian advancements in the area.

The elimination of the anti-air defense system provides Ukraine with an opportunity to launch more powerful strikes on Russia’s industrial and energy facilities. Additionally, a Russian troop-carrying truck was destroyed in a drone strike orchestrated by special forces units to divert Moscow’s troops from their frontline offensives.

Described as a “bonus” by Ukraine’s intelligence agencies, the destruction of the troop-carrier occurred during the drone attack on the weapons sites. Meanwhile, Russian troops are reportedly entering the besieged city of Pokrovsk, with ongoing fighting and fears of deeper incursions by Russia. The UN has reported Russian drone teams targeting civilians to force them out of their homes in eastern Ukraine.

The recent strike by Ukraine’s “ghost” unit, whose exact location remains undisclosed, targeted the occupied Donbas region. The destroyed S-300V anti-aircraft system is crucial for safeguarding military and industrial sites against aerial threats.

Ukraine has been strategically dismantling Russia’s ground-to-air defense missile systems to effectively target Moscow’s industrial base. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian-made long-range strikes on Russian refineries have significantly reduced Moscow’s oil refining capacity. Zelenskyy emphasized the need for additional foreign financial support to boost production of these weapons.

As Ukraine aims to disrupt Russia’s energy economy, new sanctions from the US and the European Union are intended to impact Moscow’s oil and gas export revenues. Despite international peace efforts, the conflict continues, with the US imposing sanctions on Russian oil giants as part of escalating pressure tactics.

India and China, major customers of Russian oil, are showing signs of reducing imports from Russia. Zelenskyy highlighted the importance of diminishing Russia’s energy export capacity to weaken Putin’s financial resources for the war effort.

Ukraine’s military strategy focuses on targeting Putin’s financial and logistical capabilities, with recent successes in destroying Russian radar and missile systems. The “ghosts” unit has been actively dismantling key Russian infrastructure, including radar stations in Crimea and southern Ukraine, to undermine Russia’s military defenses.
