An 11-year-old boy is currently in intensive care, bravely battling severe injuries sustained in a tragic tram accident in south Manchester. Travis Ashe was hit by a Metrolink tram at the Crossacres stop on Brownley Road in Wythenshawe around 3:40 pm last Tuesday, resulting in life-altering wounds. Following the incident, a swift emergency response was mobilized, including an air ambulance, police, firefighters, and paramedics who swiftly transported Travis to the hospital. The affected tram stop and the surrounding area were cordoned off for investigation overnight.
Travis’ parents, Simon and Claire, provided an update on his condition via a GoFundMe post, stating that their son is currently in the intensive care unit, in a medically induced coma, and displaying remarkable strength despite undergoing multiple surgeries for his injuries. They expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and love they have received from well-wishers.
The Cheshire North West Schoolboy Scramble Club initiated an online fundraiser to assist Travis’ family during this challenging period. A family friend, Helen Reid, who organized the campaign, highlighted the long road ahead due to the severity of Travis’ injuries, emphasizing the importance of support from the motocross community, which plays a significant role in Travis and his family’s life.
