Google Introduces Feature for Gmail Users to Change Email Addresses

Published:

Millions of Gmail users are now receiving a significant update from Google. The tech giant has officially announced the availability of a feature that allows users to change their email addresses, providing a solution for those dissatisfied with their original Gmail account names.

Google stated, “Your digital identity has been enhanced,” emphasizing the option to modify the Google Account username, the part before @gmail.com, used for accessing various services such as Gmail, Photos, and Drive.

One key benefit of this update is that both the original and new email addresses will remain functional simultaneously, ensuring that users do not miss any incoming messages sent to either account.

Assuring users of data security, Google confirmed that all saved information, including photos, messages, and emails, will remain intact throughout this process.

Although this update is currently only available in the US, users in the UK will have to wait for its rollout in their region. For US users, Google advised accessing account settings, navigating to personal info, selecting email, and then Google account email to initiate the email address change process.

It is important to note that the original email address will be retained as an alternate address in the account, allowing users to create a new address every 12 months. Users are encouraged to review their settings periodically to check for the availability of this update.
