“Pacquiao Confirms Negotiations for Mayweather Rematch on Netflix”

Published:

Manny Pacquiao has confirmed discussions regarding a potential rematch with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, with Netflix reportedly taking the lead in negotiations. The two iconic figures in the sport had a highly anticipated showdown over a decade ago, generating over £500 million in US pay-per-view sales. Mayweather emerged victorious in that encounter, although Pacquiao later attributed his performance to a shoulder injury.

The former eight-weight world champion surprised the boxing community by revealing his intention for a rematch with Mayweather more than a year ago. Mayweather responded by demanding a significant $4 million payment for Pacquiao’s premature announcement of the talks. Despite this, Pacquiao remains eager for a rematch, emphasizing that Mayweather would need to make the first move.

Pacquiao expressed his readiness for a potential rematch, highlighting his motivation to continue boxing post-surgery. The Filipino senator remains optimistic about the prospect of facing Mayweather once again, citing his active status in the sport as a key factor.

Pacquiao recently fought Mario Barrios to a draw in his quest for the WBC welterweight title after a four-year hiatus. In contrast, Mayweather has only engaged in two professional fights since his encounter with Pacquiao, maintaining an unbeaten record of 50-0 and participating in exhibition matches against various opponents.

When discussing his top opponents, Pacquiao omitted Mayweather from the list, favoring names such as Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, and Antonio Margarito. Pacquiao criticized Mayweather’s fighting style, describing their previous bout as unexciting and not meeting fans’ expectations for an engaging competition.
