Luke Littler Withdraws from Players Championship due to Traffic Delay

Published:

Luke Littler provided an update following his absence from the second-to-last Players Championship event of 2025. The 18-year-old, set to compete at PC33 in Wigan, had to withdraw after being delayed by traffic. Consequently, he missed the registration deadline and had to forfeit his spot in the tournament lineup.

Instead of participating in the event, Littler shared on Instagram that he opted to grab Chinese food while his competitors, like Luke Humphries, took the stage. Later, he explained that his delay was due to a traffic incident on the M6 motorway in Wigan, where a man tragically lost his life.

Emergency services responded to the incident between Bryn Interchange and Orrell/M58 junctions, leading to the closure of part of the motorway. While missing PC33 was disappointing for Littler, currently ranked second globally, his recent victory at PC32 secured his place in the upcoming Players Championship finals in Minehead, with a prize pool of £600,000.

Despite doubts about his qualification for the finals, Littler’s outstanding performance at PC32 silenced critics and ensured his participation. Following his World Grand Prix title win and a recent attempt at the European Championship, Littler remains a force to be reckoned with on the darts circuit.
