Toto Wolff Attends Wife’s Book Event Over F1 Race

Published:

Mercedes F1 team principal Toto Wolff chose a night at London’s Lyceum Theatre over the Mexico City Grand Prix to support his wife, Susie, marking a departure from his usual presence at Formula 1 events. Wolff’s focus on backing Susie’s recently published memoir, “Driven,” took precedence for the 53-year-old Austrian. At the event, approximately 2,000 attendees were enthralled by Susie’s remarkable journey from the Scottish Highlands to the pinnacle of motorsport.

Prior to this, Wolff participated in the Autosport Business Exchange in New York. Susie’s motorsport journey began at the age of eight in karting, progressing to single-seat racing in 2001 with Formula Renault. Despite an ankle injury affecting her debut Formula 3 season with Alan Docking Racing, she persevered. Subsequently, from 2006 to 2012, she competed in DTM with Mucke Motorsport and later Persson before transitioning to F1 as a development driver with Williams.

Notably, Susie made history at the 2014 British Grand Prix as the first woman to participate in a Formula 1 weekend since 1992. Following her retirement from F1 in 2015, she assumed the role of a brand ambassador for Mercedes. Furthermore, Susie currently serves as Team Principal for Venturi Racing in Formula E and as the managing director of the all-female racing series, F1 Academy. While absent from the Mexico City GP, Wolff would have closely monitored his team’s performance.

Mercedes faced a challenging race in Mexico, with Kimi Antonelli finishing just ahead of George Russell in sixth place. The race victory went to McLaren’s Lando Norris, with Charles Leclerc of Ferrari and Max Verstappen of Red Bull claiming the other podium spots. In the Drivers’ standings, Russell is in fourth place with 258 points, trailing leader Norris by 99 points, while Antonelli sits in seventh with 97 points.

In the Constructors’ standings, Mercedes currently holds third place with 355 points, trailing Ferrari by just one point. However, McLaren leads with 713 points, supported by 13 victories and 30 podium finishes.
