Published:

Authorities have made an urgent plea following a car accident where a woman pushing a stroller was struck after the vehicle veered onto the sidewalk. The event occurred today around 4:30 pm on the R617 route connecting Blarney and Tower in Ireland. The woman, in her thirties, and the infant were quickly taken to a hospital in Cork. Fortunately, the woman’s injuries are not life-threatening, and the baby emerged unscathed, described as a ‘miraculous’ outcome by a local fire brigade member.

Individuals who witnessed the collision or were passing through the vicinity and might have recorded footage on their dashcams are encouraged to contact emergency services for assistance.

A spokesperson for the Garda mentioned, “Gardaí and emergency services were present at the location following a report of a car accident involving two pedestrians, a woman in her thirties, and an infant male, which happened in Blarney, Co. Cork today, Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at approximately 4:30 pm.”

“The pedestrians were taken to Cork University Hospital to receive treatment for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening currently. No additional injuries were documented. The area was secured for technical evaluation, and the road has now been reopened. Gardaí are seeking witnesses, including those with dashcam or video recordings who were in the vicinity at the time.”

Local council member Damian Boylan extended his sympathy to the victim and praised the efforts of the Gardaí and emergency responders for their swift actions.

Boylan stated, “This was an extremely unfortunate incident; the positive aspect is that no lives were lost, but it must have been a terrifying ordeal. My thoughts are with the woman and her family.”

“I trust that the Gardaí are diligently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident today.”
