“UK Residents Eligible for £25 Cold Weather Payments”

Published:

Residents in the UK may qualify to receive payments of £25 during cold weather periods this winter through the Cold Weather Payment initiative. The program has just commenced for the 2025/26 season, offering £25 for each period where temperatures drop to zero degrees or lower for seven consecutive days in a specific location.

Individuals may be eligible for multiple Cold Weather Payments if they experience multiple prolonged cold spells throughout the winter season. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) administers the distribution of Cold Weather Payments.

To qualify for these payments, individuals must be recipients of certain benefits such as Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, or Income-related Employment and Support Allowance. Those eligible for the scheme are advised to contact Jobcentre Plus to claim their Cold Weather Payment.

The Cold Weather Payment scheme is scheduled to run until March 31, 2026. Eligible recipients should expect the payment to be deposited directly into their bank accounts within 14 working days. Most individuals will receive the payment automatically without the need for a separate application, except in cases involving a baby or a child under the age of five joining the household.

Residents can verify their eligibility for Cold Weather Payments in their area by using a postcode checker on the GOV.UK website. It is important to note that Cold Weather Payments are not available in Scotland, where they have been replaced by the Winter Heating Payment scheme, providing £59.75 in financial support.
