Freely, a relatively new player in the UK streaming market, has quickly gained traction since its launch in 2024. Surpassing a milestone of one million weekly users during the Christmas period marked a significant achievement for the platform, showcasing rapid growth compared to just a few months prior.

This accomplishment solidifies Freely as the fastest-growing TV platform in the UK for 2025. Jonathan Thompson, CEO of Everyone TV, expressed enthusiasm over this milestone, attributing it to the demand for an accessible platform to stream live British TV and discover on-demand content seamlessly.

With the shift towards streaming and the trend away from traditional cable subscriptions, Freely aims to bridge the gap towards larger competitors like Sky and Freeview. Leveraging its unique broadband-based setup, the platform offers convenient features such as live TV pausing, personalized recommendations, and an extensive TV guide.

Initially available on a limited selection of TVs, Freely has expanded to various models from popular brands like Hisense, Panasonic, Bush, and Sharp. To further broaden its reach, the introduction of Pleio, a streaming puck, enables nearly any TV to access Freely. Future plans include the release of additional set-top devices, potentially boosting Freely’s market share even further.
