Met Police Probes Prince Andrew’s Alleged Misconduct

Published:

The Metropolitan Police is currently investigating new troubling allegations involving Prince Andrew, following the release of a bombshell email that suggests the former duke tried to tarnish the reputation of his accuser, Virginia Giuffre.

Prince Andrew has consistently denied claims that he engaged in sexual activities with Jeffrey Epstein’s accuser, Virginia, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 17. Despite refuting any misconduct, his association with convicted sex offender Epstein has continued to overshadow his position within the Royal Family.

Having withdrawn from public responsibilities five years ago, the 65-year-old prince has now voluntarily renounced his titles and honors with the approval of his elder brother, King Charles III. In a statement issued by Buckingham Palace, Andrew announced his decision to forego the use of his titles and honors to prioritize his obligations to his family and the nation.

Recent revelations of alleged misconduct have emerged, making it challenging for the Royal Family to overlook the ongoing controversy surrounding Prince Andrew.

According to the Mail on Sunday, it is claimed that Prince Andrew instructed his taxpayer-funded Met bodyguard to investigate Virginia, providing her date of birth and social security number in an attempt to gather damaging information. There is no indication that the officer acted on this request.

In an email sent in February 2011, Andrew allegedly informed his mother’s press secretary about Virginia’s supposed criminal record in the U.S. and shared her personal information for investigation.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed they are actively examining the allegations. Virginia’s family, who have verified that she had no criminal record, have criticized the attempts to discredit and defame survivors, calling for an inquiry into how Prince Andrew obtained her private details.

Victoria Derbyshire interrupted Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg to report the Metropolitan Police’s decision to investigate claims that Prince Andrew instructed his bodyguard to gather information on Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexual misconduct.

Reacting to this development, BBC Newsnight interviewer Emily Maitlis, whose interview with Prince Andrew in 2019 contributed to his downfall, expressed her approval of the police investigation.
