“Morrisons Slashes Baileys Price to £11 for Festive Season”

Published:

Morrisons has announced a price cut on 1L bottles of Baileys to £11 in anticipation of the holiday season. This discount from the regular price of £14 will be available until Sunday, November 2 in England and Wales, with no loyalty card required for the reduced price.

Currently, the same size Baileys is priced at £13.98 in Asda, £22 (£14 with a Nectar card) in Sainsbury’s, and £22.50 (£14 with a Clubcard) in Tesco. Last year, Morrisons had lowered the Baileys price to £8.50, but customers had to spend £45 and be a Morrisons More member to access this deal.

In a strategic move, Morrisons plans to convert numerous corner shops into its Morrisons Daily convenience stores. The supermarket aims to launch 250 new Morrisons Daily outlets next year by offering corner shop owners the opportunity to rebrand their stores as Morrisons franchises, particularly concentrating on areas where Morrisons has limited presence.

This initiative signifies a significant acceleration in Morrisons’ expansion plans, with approximately 160 convenience stores set to open this year. A Morrisons spokesperson emphasized the company’s goal of bringing Morrisons Daily stores to more UK customers through a franchise model that enables rapid store expansion in a cost-effective manner.

Concurrently, Morrisons is streamlining its operations by closing 103 stores, cafes, florists, and pharmacies this year. Additionally, over 50 cafes, 13 florists, four pharmacies, all 18 Market Kitchens, 35 meat counters, and 35 fish counters are expected to permanently shut down. Morrisons cited a comprehensive review indicating these services were no longer economically viable.

Rami Baitiéh, Chief Executive of Morrisons, expressed understanding for the impact these changes will have on employees, stating that the company plans to collaborate with third parties to provide specialized services in stores where counters or cafes are closing.
