“Hamilton Urges Ferrari for Team Overhaul”

Published:

Lewis Hamilton has once again reached out to Ferrari management to emphasize his desire for adjustments in the team’s operations. The seven-time world champion has faced challenges since joining Ferrari from Mercedes last winter.

Hamilton, aged 40, is yet to secure a podium finish with Ferrari and currently holds the sixth position in the drivers’ standings ahead of the upcoming United States Grand Prix, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc by 48 points.

During the Belgium Grand Prix in July, Hamilton disclosed his ongoing communication with Ferrari by sending various “documents” throughout the season in an effort to turn around his performance after a challenging first season.

Reports surfaced in August revealing that Hamilton’s correspondences focused on suggested modifications to the car and the team’s operational procedures, particularly regarding inter-departmental communication during race weekends.

According to Italian publication Corriere della Sera, Hamilton has submitted another document to Ferrari’s ‘top management,’ stressing the necessity for widespread changes within the team.

It has been noted that Hamilton anticipated having a more significant influence on decision-making at Ferrari but has encountered unexpected hurdles and internal politics instead.

Hamilton’s situation at Ferrari draws comparisons to the struggles faced by four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel during his tenure at the team from 2015 to 2020.

In preparation for his transition to Ferrari, Hamilton sought advice from Vettel in January, engaging in discussions to prepare for his new team and exchange insights with the fellow world champion.

Following a pit lane delay during qualifying at the Singapore Grand Prix, Hamilton highlighted an area for improvement at Ferrari, citing significant loss of tire temperature for both himself and Leclerc.

This temperature loss led to the drivers exerting excessive pressure on the tires during the outlap to regain optimal temperature, ultimately affecting their performance on subsequent flying laps. Hamilton expressed the need for Ferrari to address this issue to enhance their competitiveness.
