“Woman Pushes New Husband Off Cliff on Honeymoon”

Published:

After tying the knot, a couple’s post-wedding bliss turned tragic on their honeymoon. Jordan Linn Graham and Cody Johnson, married for only eight days, went hiking in a Montana national park. Graham reported Johnson missing on July 8, 2013, claiming he had left for a drive with a friend, but she couldn’t provide the message as they often deleted texts.

Subsequently, Graham alleged that Johnson left in a dark vehicle after a distressing phone call. She later stated that two days later, on July 11, while hiking in Glacier Park, she found her husband’s lifeless body at a steep viewpoint known as the Loop. Suspicions arose due to the unlikely discovery, but she defended it by claiming it was an area Johnson wished to visit before his death.

Following Johnson’s family urging an investigation, Graham confessed on July 16 that she had lied. She admitted to pushing Johnson off a cliff edge during an argument about their relationship. She expressed regret, mentioning her discontent just days into the marriage.

A friend of Graham’s revealed her apprehension about the marriage and her intention to confront Johnson the night he died. Text messages suggested a sense of impending danger. Another friend of Johnson’s expressed suspicions about Graham’s involvement in his demise, citing longstanding concerns about their relationship.

Despite initially claiming Johnson’s death was accidental, Graham pleaded guilty during her trial. Prosecutors dropped a charge of premeditated murder, and she was sentenced to 30 years in prison for second-degree murder. The judge criticized her lack of full disclosure during sentencing, emphasizing the severity of the crime. Graham faces a lengthy prison term without the possibility of parole, followed by five years of court supervision upon release.
