A former TV news anchor, Angelynn ‘Angie’ Mock, has been charged with first-degree murder for the alleged killing of her elderly mother. The incident took place at their shared residence in St. Louis, Missouri. Mock, 47, was found outside the house covered in blood when authorities arrived on the morning of October 31. Her mother, Anita Avers, 80, a marriage and family therapist, was discovered with multiple stab wounds and later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Following the incident, Mock, who had cuts on her hands, received medical treatment before being taken into custody. The ex-journalist, who had a successful career at Fox 2 News, is currently held in Sedgwick County Jail on a $1 million bond for the first-degree murder charge. Details on her legal representation or plea have not been disclosed yet.
Neighbors recounted the chaotic scene, with one witness describing Mock’s distressed state and blood-covered appearance when seeking help. Emergency dispatchers were informed that the incident was related to a domestic dispute, where the mother was allegedly stabbed by the daughter in self-defense. Mock, who transitioned from journalism to sales after leaving her media role in 2015, had previously worked at various news stations before the tragic event unfolded.
