“London’s Battersea Power Station Shines with Apple iPad Christmas Designs”

Published:

In the lead-up to the holiday season, visitors in London may come across a delightful sight featuring Apple’s iPad. The renowned tablet has been utilized to craft 24 festive designs that are currently illuminating the iconic towers at Battersea Power Station, a location that Apple also calls its UK home.

These vibrant artworks have been carefully selected from numerous submissions received through Apple’s “Your Tree on Battersea” contest, which was open to the public. As night falls, these images will adorn two of the towering 101-meter chimneys overlooking the River Thames.

One of the ecstatic winners, Varsha Simha from Canterbury, shared her excitement, stating, “I feel thrilled to have my design chosen in this competition. My inspiration came from the cozy atmosphere of Christmas markets and all the warm elements during the coldest months.”

Another winner, 7-year-old Miah D.B, expressed happiness, saying, “I’m delighted to be selected. I created this tree on my iPad because I enjoy drawing on it, and my inspiration stemmed from emotions.”

Alongside the winners’ creations, well-known personalities such as Kylie Minogue, Sir Stephen Fry, Maro Itoje, Oliver Jeffers, David Shrigley OBE, and Chawawa have also contributed their drawings to the display.

This event continues Apple’s tradition of celebrating holiday creativity and marks the first time the company has involved the public in such an initiative. Previously, in 2023, artist David Hockney presented “Bigger Christmas Trees on iPad Pro,” and last year, Aardman, the creator of Wallace & Gromit, used the iPhone 16 Pro Max to produce a short animation.

Chawawa, one of the participants, expressed sentiment, “Organizing Apple’s inaugural iPad Christmas tree competition holds special meaning for me. Growing up, I spent weekends at the store, capturing photos on an iPad, so leading Your Tree on Battersea now is truly special. It’s wonderful to see the nation coming together to create Christmas trees on iPads, illuminating them across this amazing city.”

These captivating images will brighten up Battersea from now until Christmas Eve.
