“Grieving Family Honors ‘Vibrant’ Woman Found Deceased”

The grieving family of a woman discovered deceased in a canal has honored her as a “vibrant, lovely, caring individual.” Chereiss Bailey’s body was found near Ryders Green Road, West Bromwich, prompting a murder inquiry by West Midlands Police. Two individuals have been arrested in relation to the 36-year-old’s demise.

Three days following the recovery of her body, the family has issued a statement commemorating the “beloved” woman. They expressed, “Chereiss was a vibrant, lovely, caring individual who was cherished and admired by all of us. The depth of our sorrow, anger, and heartache is indescribable as a family. She will forever hold a place in our hearts.”

As part of the investigation by West Midlands Police, two suspects have been arraigned at Worcester Magistrates’ Court. John Anslow, 64, faces charges of murder and obstructing the lawful burial of a body. Hayley-Marie Ferguson, 41, is charged with impeding the lawful burial of a deceased body and aiding an offender. Both are scheduled for a subsequent hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson mentioned that specialized officers are providing support to Chereiss’ family during this challenging period and are keeping them informed about the latest developments. Police were alerted to the canal near Ryders Green Road after reports of a body in the water surfaced. A significant blue forensic tent was set up as officers cordoned off the area for evidence collection.

“Ongoing door-to-door inquiries are in progress, alongside the retrieval and review of CCTV footage, as we strive to ascertain the exact circumstances,” stated West Midlands Police. “There will be an increased police presence in the vicinity in the upcoming days as the investigation unfolds. A forensic post-mortem examination is underway to determine the cause of death.”
