WhatsApp users can now access a significant enhancement as Meta, the platform’s parent company, rolls out a dedicated app for the Apple Watch. This new development allows users to conveniently send messages and respond to friends directly from their wrist, eliminating the need to reach for their smartphones.
Although the Apple Watch has supported WhatsApp notifications for years, the functionality was previously limited. Users could only view snippets of messages rather than the entire content. With the latest update, the app on the Apple Watch now mirrors the experience on smartphones, tablets, and PCs, enabling users to view complete messages, respond with emojis, and send voice memos seamlessly.
The update promises a “new experience” according to WhatsApp, aiming to help users “stay on top of your chats without needing to pull out your iPhone.” Notable new features include call notifications, the ability to read full messages, send voice messages, react with emojis, enjoy a media-rich experience, view chat history, and more.
WhatsApp emphasized that the app on Apple Watch maintains end-to-end encryption to safeguard personal messages and calls. The new WhatsApp Apple Watch app is compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 or later, running watchOS 10 or newer.
While the release of the app is imminent, it has not yet been made available. Mirror Online anticipates its arrival in the following days.
