“Multiple Car Crashes Cause Chaos on M60 Motorways”

Two motorways experienced severe disruptions during rush hour due to two separate car crashes leading to the closure of sections of the M60. The initial incident occurred near Denton Island, resulting in delays on the M60 clockwise, while the second crash occurred near Swinton.

Traffic congestion was reported on the M60 anticlockwise, extending back to junction 19 of the M62 westbound at Heywood. Additionally, queues were observed on the M61 southbound near the Swinton Interchange and on the M60 clockwise between junctions 23 in Ashton and 25 in Brinnington.

The congestion near a previous crash site in Swinton has now alleviated. Movement on the M60 clockwise has resumed following the Denton crash. Trinity Way is shut at the Manchester/Salford border due to a morning crash, causing anticipated delays on the inner ring road.

All lanes near Swinton on the M60 have been reopened. Long queues persist on the M60, M61 southbound, and M62 westbound approaching the Swinton crash site. A lorry fire on Tuesday evening at Junction 24 (Denton Island) led to closures in the same M60 section, causing significant delays.

An additional incident on the M62 is causing extended delays for drivers heading towards Manchester from West Yorkshire. Traffic was briefly halted following an earlier collision, resulting in queues between junctions 23 and 22. Long queues are reported on the M60 between Denton Island and Brinnington.

Google traffic data reveals slow-moving traffic in the area with queues extending to junction 23 at Ashton-under-Lyne, originating from an incident near Denton Island in the morning.
