“Piers Morgan Apologizes to Alastair Cook After 11 Years”

Published:

Piers Morgan has publicly apologized to Alastair Cook, 11 years after referring to him as a ‘weasel’ during his time as England’s cricket captain. Morgan had been a consistent critic of Cook, particularly for his perceived role in Kevin Pietersen’s exclusion from the national team in 2013. However, in a recent reconciliation on The Overlap and Betfair’s Stick to Cricket show, Morgan appears to have put their past differences aside.

Morgan explained that his criticism stemmed from his desire to see Pietersen continue playing and expressed regret for his harsh remarks towards Cook and former England cricket director Sir Andrew Strauss. He admitted to being overly aggressive in his social media posts towards Cook, acknowledging that his comments were excessive and unwarranted.

Despite the fallout surrounding Pietersen’s departure from the team in 2013, Cook continued to represent England for an additional five years, amassing an impressive record of 12,472 test runs and 33 centuries. Cook has described the aftermath of Pietersen’s exit as one of the most challenging periods of his career.
