“Kent Seaside Town Evacuated as Bomb Squad Clears Streets”

A seaside town in Margate, Kent, was the center of attention as a bomb squad rushed in and four streets were cleared following suspicions of explosive items being discovered. Kent Police received alerts about “suspicious items” inside a flat on Rosedale Road, leading to the arrival of a Ministry of Defence bomb disposal team.

In response to the situation, Kent Fire and Rescue Service teams, along with Kent Police, were present on-site. A person was apprehended and taken into custody in connection with the incident. Homes on Rosedale Road, Glencoe Road, Wharfedale Road, and Malham Drive were evacuated as a precautionary measure after concerns arose about items within a flat on Rosedale Road.

Residents were not permitted to return home until the next day. James Edwards, a resident of Rosedale Road, shared his experience, mentioning the arrival of police and the bomb squad causing uncertainty among locals. Kent Police issued a statement confirming the evacuation of residents in the four affected roads, emphasizing the ongoing inspection by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team from the Ministry of Defence.

Thanet District Council oversaw residents’ welfare, utilizing Hartsdown Leisure Centre to support the evacuation process. Additionally, a person was arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody.
