“Engage with MPs in Entertaining Party Games Show”

Published:

In a rare occasion, there is an opportunity to engage in games with elected Members of Parliament.

This unique experience is part of The Mirror’s latest show, Party Games, which premiered on Saturday, June 16, on The Mirror’s YouTube channel. The show features prominent figures from various political backgrounds, adding a twist to the typical party atmosphere.

The inaugural guest on the show is Dawn Butler, the Labour MP for Brent East. The first episode is already available for viewing on YouTube.

During the show, I wear a festive party hat and spin a wheel to select the games. Each game is designed to elicit humorous anecdotes, emotional moments, and even some political banter from the MPs. The games range from “Would You Rather?” – where MPs face tough choices, to “Never Have I Ever?”, “Ask Me Anything”, and the “30-Second Pitch” segment where guests present causes they are passionate about.

One of the entertaining segments is “Hug, Marry, Avoid”, where MPs must decide whom they would hug, marry, or avoid from a given list. Dawn Butler’s reaction to the selection of Reform UK MPs Nigel Farage, Lee Anderson, and Richard Tice sparked laughter.

The Mirror’s show aims to offer viewers a glimpse into the personal side of MPs, away from the formalities of Westminster, especially in light of the increasing challenges faced by politicians.

Highlights from the episode include Dawn Butler’s candid remarks on her past experiences in Parliament, her aspirations to become the Mayor of London, and her reflections on breaking barriers as the first black female MP to serve as a government minister.

In a passionate plea, she discusses her campaign to revitalize high streets by advocating for changes to the 2005 Gambling Act to empower councils and communities to shape their local environments positively.

For those interested, Party Games is now available for viewing on YouTube.
