Niagara Falls Murder Suspect Apprehended in Montreal; Second Suspect at Large

A suspect linked to the fatal shooting of Mitchell Snoddon in Niagara Falls on July 16 has been apprehended in Montreal and is set to be extradited back to Ontario. Josta MacNeal was arrested by the Montreal Police Service in connection with the second-degree murder charge, while Maaroof Bangi, the second suspect, is still on the run.

Niagara Regional Police alerted the public about the ongoing manhunt for Bangi, emphasizing his potential danger as no weapon has been recovered. Authorities urged anyone who spots Bangi to refrain from approaching him and to contact emergency services immediately.

The police advised Bangi to seek legal counsel and surrender himself. The incident transpired when the two suspects visited an apartment complex on Thorold Stone Road in Niagara Falls and fatally shot Snoddon. The police confirmed that the shooting was targeted rather than random, cautioning residents to remain vigilant.

Previously, Niagara police released surveillance footage of the suspects and requested assistance from the community in locating them. The fugitives were initially reported to be driving a 2022-2026 Nissan Rogue SUV, but were later seen in a 2016 Toyota Camry with distinctive damages, last spotted on Highway 45 in Hastings, Ont.

Law enforcement disclosed that a Mazda CX5, believed to be used by the suspects, had been recovered. Detectives also indicated that the suspects might alter their appearance to evade capture, including changes in hair color and length, makeup, clothing, and facial hair modifications.

Individuals with relevant information were encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) to assist in the ongoing investigation.
