Three security personnel working at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg have been arrested and charged with assault following a serious injury to a Winnipeg Sea Bears player earlier this month, as reported by the police. Teddy Allen was hospitalized after an assault at the nightclub on August 3, according to the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The individuals involved, aged 35, 37, and 58, were charged with assault causing bodily harm and were subsequently released on undertakings, the authorities stated in a news release on Thursday. The nightclub in question, located between Portage and William avenues on Main Street, was not disclosed by the police.
In a written statement released by the team on Thursday, Allen mentioned that he had undergone medical examinations, received a diagnosis, and is currently recuperating at home. Expressing his thoughts on the incident, Allen emphasized that such assaults should never occur to anyone for any reason, stating, “The thing about my life is that when I’ve been knocked down, I get back up, which is exactly what I’m going to do now.”
