After being eliminated from the W Canadian Championship, the Montreal Roses took the decision to part ways with their first head coach, Robert Rositoiu. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, made the announcement on Thursday, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for his role in establishing the professional women’s soccer club during its early stages.
Acknowledging the difficulty of such decisions, Pichon emphasized the need for a fresh approach to guide the club through the rest of the season and propel its growth. The Roses currently hold a commendable second position in the Northern Super League (NSL), having accumulated 27 points with 10 matches remaining in the regular season.
Robert Rositoiu assumed the head coach position in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. Meanwhile, Maryse Bard-Martel will step in as the interim head coach as the club seeks a permanent successor for Rositoiu. Bard-Martel, previously the team’s first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will lead the team in the upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
