Nicola Golen netted a crucial goal just two minutes into extra time, securing a 2-2 draw for Ottawa Rapid against AFC Toronto at TD Place on Sunday. Golen’s timely strike in the 92nd minute earned the league-leading Rapid an additional point in the standings. Melanie Forbes also contributed to Ottawa’s tally with a goal in the 13th minute.
Sarah Stratigakis and Shelina Zadorsky found the back of the net for third-placed Toronto (7-4-4). The match saw both teams reduced to 10 players in the 63rd minute following red cards shown to Choo Hyojoo of the Rapid and Cloey Uddenberg of AFC Toronto.
In other news, Ottawa’s TD Place was announced as the chosen venue for the upcoming Northern Super League final scheduled for November 14.
