Police are conducting a homicide investigation following the discovery of a deceased man at his residence, prompting the presence of forensic experts at the location.
The deceased, a 47-year-old individual from Blaenavon, Wales, was found this morning with severe injuries at a property on Riverside Drive. Although not formally identified by authorities yet, the local man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 34-year-old man from Torfaen has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder. Detective Chief Inspector Jitka Tomkova-Griffiths, leading the investigation for Gwent Police, stated that no additional suspects are being sought in connection with the incident but urged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Forensics-clad officers have been observed leaving one of the residences, with witness reports indicating the presence of approximately eight crime scene investigation unit vans earlier in the day. The suspect is currently under police custody, and the street in Torfaen, situated 25 miles away from Cardiff, has been cordoned off as investigations progress.
In an official statement, it was mentioned that Gwent Police initiated a murder inquiry following reports of a man sustaining serious injuries at the Riverside Drive address in Blaenavon. The response involved officers, including firearms units as a precaution, along with paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service and Welsh Air Ambulance.
