A woman known as “Satan’s puppet” has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for unlawfully entering her neighbor’s home, murdering her, and consuming her blood.
Cynthia Ming, aged 54, initially pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity for the killing of Angie Melissa Moore, aged 45, on September 7, 2022. However, she later changed her plea to guilty and agreed to a 50-year prison term offered by the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office.
Moore contacted 911 just before midnight on September 6, 2022, alerting the authorities that someone was trying to break into her residence through a window. Upon arrival at the property on Whispering Ave, law enforcement found the victim deceased, naked, and covered in blood.
Ming attempted to flee but was subdued by police using a Taser. She confessed to breaking into the victim’s home, taking a firearm from her, shooting her in the head, and drinking her blood as retaliation for Moore allegedly harming her dog, according to the Mirror US.
The defendant’s physician, Dr. Lee Carter, informed the court that Ming had been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, histrionic personality disorder, and schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type.
Ming told Dr. Carter on the night of the incident that she felt “electrocuted” by a live wire at her residence, causing her to act irrationally. Nonetheless, she maintained that she was in control of her actions at the time of the crime.
Despite being in custody since the murder, Ming may be eligible for parole in 25 years. However, prosecutors believe it is unlikely she will receive a reduced sentence due to the heinous nature of the offense.
Prosecutors Duncan Widmann and Luke McCowan stated, “Since Ming is unlikely to ever leave prison, this plea deal achieves the same outcome as a capital murder conviction, while avoiding the risks associated with trials and appeals, which are heightened in cases involving claims of insanity.”
Clay Thomas, Ming’s lawyer, expressed willingness to proceed to trial but respected his client’s decision to accept the plea agreement. He acknowledged that the trial would have been intriguing but emphasized the importance of honoring the client’s wishes and accountability for their actions.
In emotional victim impact statements, Martha and Marvin Moore, Ming’s parents, detailed the profound impact of their daughter’s absence on the family, including her teenage son Conner, who referred to Ming as “Satan’s puppet.”
The parents revealed that Moore had endured years of aggressive and malevolent behavior from Ming, whom they characterized as a “pure evil force” residing across the street.
Moore’s father directly addressed Ming during his testimony, condemning her as a “cold-blooded murderer” and expressing his desire for her to spend the rest of her life in prison.
