“64 Pizza Hut Restaurants Remain in UK Amid Extensive Closures”

Published:

An interactive map has unveiled the extensive impact of the Pizza Hut closures across UK high streets, revealing that one area is set to lose seven out of its nine restaurants. The company, facing financial challenges like other major dining chains, will be closing 68 restaurants and 11 delivery sites, putting 1,210 jobs at risk.

Following the closures, only 64 Pizza Hut restaurants will remain open in the UK. The Greater Manchester region is especially affected, with seven out of nine restaurants marked for closure, leaving only two outlets operational. Similar trends are seen in Greater London, where nine outlets in outer boroughs will shut down, leaving only a few in central London and one at Bluewater shopping center.

In contrast, the East Midlands region has been spared from the closure plan, with restaurants in Lincoln, Nottingham, Mansfield, Thurmaston, and Leicester staying open. DC London Pie, the company operating Pizza Hut’s dine-in restaurants, has appointed administrators, leading to a pre-pack administration deal by Yum! Brands, the global owner of Pizza Hut, saving 64 sites.

The management change comes after Directional Capital took over 139 Pizza Hut restaurants in January 2025, rescuing 3,000 jobs following the collapse of the previous operator. DC London Pie, established by Directional Capital, operates Pizza Hut restaurants in the UK. The chain’s history in the UK dates back to 1973, with over 260 restaurants and 10,000 employees at its peak.

Despite the closures, Pizza Hut plans to maintain its presence in the UK through a mix of company-owned and franchise restaurants, including 351 delivery outlets across the UK, Northern Ireland, and Ireland, in addition to the 64 acquired dine-in sites.
